Hard Times in the Big Easy
February 2006, the floodwaters have receded, but the devastation still remains in many areas. But the city is rebuilding. The first Mardi Gras since Katrina approaches. Many feel it is too soon to hold such a celebration but others see it as reaffirming the life of New Orleans.
Among those that hold power in the city, there are those that enjoy the new found situation while others long for a return to the vibrant city as it was.
And after the terrors of Katrina, some terrors seem to have stayed, or possibly awakened. Talk of the dangers in the night make some feel that it is more than simple gangs and criminals hunting in the dark.
